Take a trip to Vaxholm and experience some of the city's gems - join an entertaining city walk and be served the city's specialty for lunch.
The guide will meet you in Söderhamnen in central Vaxholm in the morning. Together we will walk through the picturesque archipelago town with nice little shops, cafes, restaurants, beaches and beautiful nature. The city walk takes about an hour and a half and goes partly through the city's oldest quarter, where the small pastel-colored wooden houses are surrounded by piers and magnificent gardens.
The guide will tell you about the herring fishery and how King Gustav Vasa decided to place the defense of Stockholm's inlet here at Vaxholm. You will also hear about the summer guests who came to the city during the 19th century and about funny little anecdotes. The walk continues past the city's town hall and ends in Västerhamnen.
At the cozy restaurant Hamnkrogen you will be served the city's own signature dish for lunch - herring with mashed potatoes and side dishes. In the afternoon there is time to stroll around on your own - take the opportunity to shop, visit art galleries or swim.
